Guided tours

School classes gain insights into the world of 100 years ago. The period leading up to the First World War saw technological innovations and inventions, a rethinking of old world views in the light of developments in physics, the breaking down of gender roles, and investigations into the unconscious by means of psychoanalysis.

Bicycles and the first aeroplanes, cinemas, department stores, assembly lines, new art – a period full of inventions, discoveries and technical innovations. New means of transport enable people to travel further and faster than ever before. Trains, ocean steamers and cars make the world a smaller place. Crowds thronging to the first departments stores marvel at the magical world of consumer goods. Established views of the world are challenged by developments in physics. Old gender roles are broken down, and women stand up for their rights.
